An Oak Front door with Ornate Glazing

Our client in Havant, Hampshire was looking for a new Oak Front door for their lovely semi-detached home. The existing door was a little tired and weather. After explaining what they visualised their new door to look like, we worked with them to create a beautiful Oak Front door with frosted glass side lights. We also ensured that the existing ornate glass designed with replicated. The new door looks fresh and utterly changes the front elevation of the house. We look forward to visiting them again in 6 months for their free 6 months service.

Air dried Oak Front door in Eastbourne

A request that we have noticed becoming more and more popular is the incorporation of a side light(s) with a Front door. Our client in Eastbourne was looking for a new Oak front door to replace the existing. Despite keen to keep the side light and door the same sizes, our client wanted a new style of door that would allow more light and look more current. As you can see from the photos, one small change to the front of your house can completely transform the look of it. The house looks more up to date, cleaner and fresher! And our client was thrilled; “Thank you Jeremy, Hannah, Dave, Matt and Adam – a good job superbly well done”.

Before… a softwood, factory made Front door with frosted glass and a very thin side light…

Wardrobe Doors & Chest of Drawers

Another local client spotted one of our vans driving around Chichester and got in touch at the beginning of the summer to enquire about replacing their wardrobe doors and refurbishing some drawer fronts for their chest of drawers. These types of projects are very affordable and we can match your existing design, paint colour and even handles.

The wardrobe doors before… We removed the entire front face including the mirrors, we then tidied up the frame.

The wardrobe doors after… We built 4 sets of double doors that are side hung and meet in the middle. We used a simple profile mould to create a detailed and expensive charm. The doors were sprayed with Farrow & Ball off-white and new handles were fitted. Our clients were thrilled and we are looking forward to working with them again in the near future.

International Opportunities

At the end of May 2015, a lovely Spanish student named Aitor joined us from Gran Canaria. He was mainly involved in the design and co-ordination of projects as part of his University Erasmus scheme. He thoroughly enjoyed his time with us and we are very thankful for all the hard work he put into his time here. If you, or someone you know, is looking for a little experience or even a taster day in a hard-working, friendly joinery environment then please do get in touch.

The Witterings – Another Example of Transforming Direct Glazing

In November 2014 we were invited to quote for a fantastic extension project in West Wittering. Our client was after an open Garden room with Direct Glazing to maximise the panoramic views of this beautiful part of the world. Below are some fantastic photos of the large, light and airy Garden room that we built and installed, along with a set of French doors. This beautiful extension has provided our client with a lovely, sunshine-filled dining room/snug. We specialise in this type of direct glazing, using Planitherm total plus glass, providing an attractive and also effectively insulated system.

If you are looking for a similar project at your home please don’t hesitate to contact us via email at info@sussexhardwood.co.uk or call us on 01243 572515.

Oak Garage Doors

Traditional rustic Garage doors for a property in Preston Candover. Our client requested some authentic looking side hung Garage doors that would be in-keeping with the rest of the property and the surrounding area. The lovely large T hinges provide the necessary strength for these heavy doors. We fitted heavy duty hasp and staple locks with shoot bolts on the interior. We will be heading back to this property in a few months time to be conducting our complimentary 6 month check and to apply another coat of oil.

Working with Listed Building Regulations

These beautifully handmade hardwood glazed French doors, with shutters and an opening top light, were lovingly made at our workshops to meet all Listed Building regulations.  What was in place before was just an opening window.  Our specialist team took on the project to remove the old window and shutters and create an opening for the new hardwood French Doors and opening window above.  We strictly adhered to the Listed Building regulations and installed admirable glazed hardwood French doors with opening window above and fully operational hardwood painted shutters.  The utmost care was taken to ensure the property was restored to it’s original state, including interior cornice works.  Now our client can make full use of the doors and enjoy each and every season with the variations of using the doors, window and shutters.
